Official Addresses

Президент Российской Федерации Владимир Путин

President of the Russian Federation

I send greetings to the participants, organisers and guests of Transport Week 2012.

In recent years your forum has built up its own traditions and has become an important and much-anticipated event in the business life of the country. It is now a prestigious arena for constructive and significant dialogue between leaders of government agencies and the expert and business communities about important matters in the development of the national transport system.

The modernisation of the road and railway infrastructure and of air, sea and river transport is rightly one of the important priorities in state policy. Today we need to focus on introducing modern technologies, logistics and management systems and on creating major multimodal hubs. We must provide the transport fleet with new equipment that meets the latest standards of safety, reliability and environmental protection. And finally, we need to make full use of public-private partnership approaches.

I am convinced that if we can address these issues effectively it will help to bring a growth in the industry’s innovative potential and increase its competitiveness.

I wish you successful, fruitful work and send you my very best wishes.

Vladimir Putin

Dear friends,

I send greetings to you in Moscow at the traditional Transport of Russia international forum.

It is taking place as part of Transport Week 2012 and is rightly regarded as a prestigious discussion arena where leaders from major Russian and foreign companies meet with leading experts and representatives of government agencies.

Today the Russian transport system faces some serious challenges connected with developing the infrastructure, optimising transport and supply chains, and introducing new management technologies. We are putting a particular emphasis on increasing the quality and accessibility of transport. We must use modern technical solutions which provide comfort and safety for passengers and reduce freight delivery times.

I expect that the forum participants’ recommendations will be in practical demand and will serve to expand international cooperation in transport services.

I wish you constructive work and success in implementing your plans, and send you my very best wishes.
