Irkutsk State Transport University was found in 1975 and owes its birth to Baikal-Amur Mainline. Nowadays the responsibility area of IrGUPS is the construction of new railway lines, twice the length of Baikal-Amur Mainline. For implementation of major projects innovative thinking specialists, who can serve the transport complex and its infrastructure, are necessary. During its existence, IrGUPS has taught and graduated over 30 thousand specialists of higher and secondary vocational education.
