Results of the second day of the 12th Transport of Russia International Forum and Exhibition were summed up

The second business day of the 12th Transport of Russia International Forum and Exhibition successfully finished.

The morning of the second business day of the forum started with a business breakfast, where Yevgeny Dietrich, Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation, and invited speakers discussed financing and development of mainline infrastructures.

“Strategy” was announced the topic of the day, and at the next event — VII International Congress “ERA-GLONASS” — the company presented its mission and outlined the goals it sets for the nearest future. Ilya Akselrod, Deputy CEO for Business Development, GLONASS, spoke on behalf of the company.

Discussion of the road traffic safety continued at the congress Road Traffic Russia “Traffic Management in the Russian Federation”. Speakers and participants of the discussion shared their experience in implementation of new technologies for regulation of traffic accidents in their regions, and state leaders in transport industry made constructive proposals to enhance the efficiency of the current programs in the future. Thus, Mikhail Blinkin, Chairman of the Public Council of the Mintrans of Russia, Director of Institute of Transport Economics and Transport Policy of Higher School of Economics National Research Institute, suggested that in the future it would be much more effective to charge fees for actual mileage, rather than fares for certain sections of the road: – “It is adequate to pay as much as you have actually traveled”.

Highlights of the second day of the 12th Transport of Russia International Forum included 5 industry conferences that featured discussions of transport development strategies and the necessity to implement digital technologies to optimize operations.

In the framework of the conference “Digital Transport and Logistics”, Maxim Gall, Deputy Administrator of Project Office for implementation of Digital Economy Program of the Government of the Russian Federation, drew the attention to the dependence of efficiency and opportunities for digitalization on international cooperation: “Digital development is hard to implement within a limited area, even if it is as big as Russia. Forging international cooperation will give as the potential that we want to see”.

Other industry conferences were focused on the issues of transport safety; telematics in road transport; pricing in road transport industry; objectives of infrastructure development and technologies of their implementation.

At the conclusion of this day, Yevgeny Dietrich met with administrations of the subjects of the Russian Federation: Head of the Udmurt Republic, Deputy Governor of the Kaluga Region, First Deputy Governor of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District, Head of the Republic of Buryatia and Vladislav Onishchenko, Head, Analytical Center, the Government of the Russian Federation.
