Results of the 12th Transport of Russia International Forum and Exhibition were summed up

Participants of the Summary plenary discussion of the 12th Transport of Russia International Forum discussed the most important formats of the previous days. For three days of the forum, Gostiny Dvor hosted about 40 formats, presentations and reports of more than 300 speakers, and welcomed around 10 thousand visitors to the exhibition; a number of agreements were signed and a course of step-by-step development of the unified digital platform was outlined. The Summary plenary discussion was opened by Mikhail Blinkin, Director of Institute of Transport Economics and Transport Policy of Higher School of Economics National Research Institute.

The project “Safe and Quality Roads”, to which more than 69 million people have already joined, became one of the most actively discussed topics of the forum. “It will result in a completely different infrastructure in participating agglomerations”, said Innokentiy Alafinov, Deputy Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation. According to him, the greatest achievement of the forum was breaking the endless circle of questions: what must emerge first, infrastructure or consumer? “We decided to end the argument and give people infrastructure”, he said. The same applies to transition of transport to the most eco-friendly types of fuel.

Yury Tsvetkov, Head of the Federal Agency for Maritime and River Transport, highlighted two conferences held on previous days – “Sea for kids” and “Maritime river transport as a system element of the backbone infrastructure.” Both events were recognized as essential for the future development of the country: “Attention needs to be given to providing the balance between transport and economy. After all, river requires much less infrastructure investments.”

Important issues touched upon at the Summary plenary discussion of the forum concerning a challenging problem for all maritime companies – fuel sulfur content. Efforts in the direction of lowering the amount of hazardous substance requires re-engineering all over currently active enterprises.

Safety issues and importance of preserving the regional airport network were also mentioned at the Summary plenary discussion of the 12th Transport of Russia International Forum.
Alexander Yurchik, Deputy Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation, characterized the completed 12th Transport of Russia International Forum as follows: “The forum gets less show-oriented and becomes a more business-focused event”.
