The International Forum and Exhibition Transport of Russia Is Going on in Moscow.

The central event of the second day of the Tenth Anniversary Forum was business breakfast by Maksim Sokolov, Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation, during which PPP projects in various sectors of transport infrastructure were discussed. The Minister and the participants viewed the possibilities for implementation of priority infrastructure projects in Russian regions in view of preparation of the Federal targeted programme Development of Russian Transport System for 2021-2030.

Within the framework of business programme of the Forum, a roundtable discussion Unmanned Transport Systems: Technology, Management, Economics was held. It discussed legal aspects of unmanned transport use on Russian roads. Currently, specialist intensively test unmanned vehicle prototypes, but they cannot be used to the full extend until their presence on the road is regulated by legislation, and relevant amendments are made to driving and other regulations. “We expect that barriers will be removed, and in a year or two we will witness unmanned transport running in Russia”, Aleksandr Gurko President of GLONASS Union, said.

Aleksey Bakulin, CEO of Bakulin Motors Group, also called for establishing the regulatory framework for the introduction of unmanned transport as soon as possible. “Russia has all the power to be the first country to form the internal rules for unmanned transport operation. This will create mechanisms to support domestic market and domestic developers of unmanned transport. Thus, we can be pioneers in the field of legal maintenance of unmanned vehicles work”, he said.

During the industry conference On the Preparation of Air Transport Infrastructure for the World Cup-2018, heads of Russian airports reported on infrastructure readiness for the championship. Thus, Evgeniy Tumel, Deputy CEO of Sheremetyevo International Airport, informed that the performance of construction of terminal B at Sheremetyevo Airport was 35%. “Construction readiness of terminal B is 35%. Interterminal tunnel is ready for 45%. Construction readiness of cargo complex Moscow Cargo stands at 42%. The readiness of refuelling complex is 33%”, Evgeniy Tumel informed.

According to Anatoliy Pchelin, Head of Airport Management Department on Federal Air Transport Agency of the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation, today, four airports are prepared for hosting the World Cup-2018. They are Sochi International Airport, which has been completely renovated before the Winter Olympics 2014, Kazan International Airport and international airports Vnukovo and Pulkovo. The total number of airports involved into serving the guests of the championship will be 13. They are located in 11 Russian cities. Airport infrastructure facilities must be fully prepared in the year 2017.

During the industry conference Russian Shipping Industry: Looking Ahead, Viktor Olersky, Head of Federal Marine and River Transport Agency, expressed confidence that within five years, Russian sipping industry will start using unmanned vessels. Another report was made by Aleksey Rakhmanov, President of United Shipbuilding Corporation. According to him, the corporation sees the prospect for construction of about 100 new fishing trawlers.

Other industry conferenced included into the business programme were Practical Aspects of Passenger and Freight Transportation by Motor Vehicles: Federal Law 220, Tachograph Control and Fire Warning System and Organic Binders Quality as a Challenge of Our Time. Moreover, Nikolay Asaul, Deputy Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation, led a Meeting of the Coordinating Council of representatives of organizations for automobile and urban electric land transport under the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation.

GLONASS held a Meeting of the Working Group of Presidential Commission for Development of General Aviation and Navigation and Information Technologies on the basis of the Global Navigation Satellite System GLONASS.
