The Airports of Regions holding company will share development plans during Transport Week 2013

Management company Airports of Regions is to present projects for reconstruction and construction of new air-terminal complexes in seven Russian cities during the 7th International Forum and Exhibition “Transport of Russia”. The projects will be presented using state-of-the-art augmented reality technology.

The large-scale reconstruction of Nizhny Novgorod Strigino Airport incorporates construction of a new passenger terminal with an area of more than 27,000 square metres and development of the associated infrastructure. Investments in the project are expected to reach approximately RUB 4 billion in 2013-2015. The projected annual capacity of the new terminal is up to 2 million passengers.

A new 42,000-square-metre passenger terminal is to be built at Kurumoch International Airport, Samara. The airport will also have a new cargo terminal, hotel, car park, business centre and other infrastructure facilities. The new complex will have a capacity of 3.5 million passengers per year. An estimated RUB 5.5 billion will be invested in the project by the end of 2014.

Some RUB 10 billion is to be invested in construction of an air-terminal complex at the new Yuzhny international airport in Rostov-on-Don by 2017. The first startup facility of the complex will have a combined area of 50,000 square metres. The estimated capacity of the terminal at peak times is 2,000 passengers an hour. Subsequently, it is planned to build a parking facility for 2,500 vehicles and a cargo terminal.

It is projected that the new airport complex of Saratov Tsentralny Airport will be put into operation in 2016. The new passenger terminal will have an area of 25,000 square metres. Furthermore, a 2,000-square-metre cargo complex will be built. The project will require approximately RUB 4 billion in investments.

It is also planned to invest RUB 5.4 billion in construction of a new passenger terminal with an area of 40,000 square metres at Yemelyanovo International Airport, Krasnoyarsk, by 2016. The original area of the terminal will be extended by up to 50%.

A new 25,000-square-metre terminal with a capacity of more than 2 million passengers a year is planned for Bolshoye Savino Airport, Perm. An estimated RUB 3.7 billion will be invested in the project during the first phase (2014-2015). It is also planned to build a car park and office buildings and to reconstruct the existing cargo terminal.

Also underway is development of Koltsovo Airport in Ekaterinburg. Investments in the projects are expected to amount to RUB 2.5 billion in 2014-2015. Specifically, it is planned to reconstruct the international airlines terminal. The objective of the project is to improve passenger services, increase the commercial area of the airport and introduce the automation and dispatching of its engineering systems. It is also planned to build a multi-storey car park for 500 vehicles. Two major facilities are to be built in the airport close to the airfield: a 2,700-square-metre hangar for commercial aircraft and a new 7,000-square metre garage for the special machines operated by the airport.

Airports of Regions is the biggest airport holding company in Russia, the Renova Group being its strategic investor. Currently, the holding company integrates Koltsovo Airport in Ekaterinburg, OAO Kurumoch International Airport in Samara, and OAO Nizhny Novgorod International Airport, which had a combined passenger traffic exceeding 6.4 million people in 2012.
