Traffic Formula Award panel of judges starts voting

Nominations for the first Traffic Formula Award for achievements in transport and the transport infrastructure are now closed. A professional panel of judges consisting of members of the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation, the Public Council of the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation and leading market analysts is evaluating the projects nominated for the award. The panel includes 16 industry experts and is co-chaired by Mikhail Yakovlevich Blinkin, Director of the Institute of Transport Economics and Transport Policy at the NRI Higher School of Economics, Chairman of the Public Council of the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation, and Yevgeny Dmitrievich Kazantsev, Vice-President of the non-commercial organisation Union of Russian Transporters, Member of the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation.

The Award will be presented in five categories:

  • Best Infrastructure Project;
  • Best Passenger Logistics Solution;
  • Best Freight Logistics Solution;
  • Best Innovative Solution in Transport Engineering;
  • Best PR Initiative of the Year.

Nominations are evaluated on the basis of their contribution to development of the transport infrastructure and integrity of the national transport system of the country/region/town, the innovative nature of developments and introduction of new technologies, and application of public-private partnership mechanisms. Other important criteria for choosing among the nominees are the sustainability, energy-saving and safety of projects, their significance for utilising Russia’s transit potential and their capacity to fill a demand niche or significantly improve the available services. Another crucial aspect is for the project to comply with modern innovation trends.

Thirty-four nominations have been submitted by Aeroproject, Northern Capital Air Gate, Neftegazoptimizatsiya, Sibmost, Institute Stroyproject, Administration of civil airports (airdromes), Aeroflot — Russian Airlines, Ministry of Transport and Road System of the Republic of Tatarstan, Sochi International Airport (Basel Aero), Northern Capital Highway, VNIIZhT, UFS, Logoprom, Russian Intermodal Logistics Association, Airports of Regions, Koltsovo Airport, TekhnoVotum, Moscow State Technical University of Civil Aviation, Concern Almaz-Antey, KhimInvestTrans, Drive Electro Engineering Company, Ulyanovsk Higher Civil Aviation School, EVRAZ, Unified Transport Directorate, Locomotive Technologies, Central PPK, Editorial Office of Russian Federation Today and High-Speed Rail Lines.

The results will be announced and winners will be awarded as part of the Business Breakfast with the Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation in Moscow on 4 December 2014 (Gostiny Dvor Exhibition Complex).

TheTraffic Formula Award will be presented annually within the framework of the International Forum and Exhibition Transport of Russia, the key event of Transport Week.
